TearScience recently announced the completion of $44.5 million of Series C funding, to commercialize medical devices used to diagnose and treat the most common cause of dry eye disease. It is estimated that 70% of the 100 million people with chronic dry eye worldwide, suffer from a condition known as evaporative dry eye disease, a deficiency in the protective lipid layer of natural tears.
